Pick a Base dish on Day 1, Burgers, Stir Fry, Pizza, Spaghetti or one of 20 others, and everything else on the menu grows out from that pick. PlateUp! ships 122 dish cards in total: those 24 Bases plus 18 Mains, 14 Desserts, 9 Starters, 7 Sides and 50 Extras that bolt onto a base as a topping or a swap, like Onion Pizza or Tacos - Lettuce. Each card lists its difficulty rating, the ingredients it needs at minimum, and the processes your kitchen has to support.
A Base dish is the skeleton of a menu: one main recipe, Steak or Dumplings among them, that the whole restaurant gets built around from Day 1, complete with a pun name like Wok n’ Roll, Bread Zeppelin or In Loaf With Sandwiches. Extras don’t stand alone. They’re the 49 toppings and variations, Onion Pizza and Tacos - Lettuce among them, that cards let you bolt onto whatever base you’re already running, so one recipe can reshape half the menu.
Every dish carries a difficulty score from 0 to 5, and it isn’t flavour text. A 0 needs almost nothing built; a 5 stacks enough processes on top of each other that a plate needs more stations and more places to stall out before it’s servable. Load a menu with too many high-difficulty dishes and you’ll out-cook your own kitchen before dinner rush even peaks.
