Balatro is a poker-hand roguelike from solo developer LocalThunk, published by Playstack. Build a deck, then clear a rising score threshold each round using Chips and Mult instead of a hand's usual point value. Jokers change how that math runs, Planet cards level up your best hand for the rest of that run, and Tarot and Spectral cards edit the deck itself. Eight Antes separate you from a win, and one poorly timed Boss Blind ends it cold.

Nothing you build carries between runs. Every Joker, Planet level, and Voucher resets when a run ends, and the next one starts from a blank Deck. What sticks is your Collection: clearing a run with an odd card unlocks it for next time, and beating higher Stakes unlocks harder versions of the same fifteen Decks. The Deck you pick sets your opening hand size and economy, and everything else (Jokers, Planets, Tarots, Spectrals, Vouchers) layers on top of that choice for as long as the run lasts.

150 possible Jokers, and only five slots to run them in.

The Deck you pick before a run locks in your hand size, discards, and starting cash.

Play a Planet Card and a poker hand's chips and mult level up permanently.

Spectral Cards: the riskiest consumable in the game, downside included.

One-shot cards that convert hands, grow your wallet, or reshape the deck on the spot.

The upgrade to a Voucher won't appear until you've bought its base first.

Glass, Steel, Gold: 8 Enhancements that change what a card does.

Small and Big warm you up; the 28 Boss Blinds are where the game starts cheating.

Pick Gold Stake and you're running every modifier from White up through Orange, all at once.

Skipping a Blind is a gamble: the Tag you get can outclass what you gave up.

Six Editions, four Seals and eight Enhancements, and no two do the same job to a card.

31 achievements that grant nothing themselves, though 13 line up with a Joker, Voucher or Deck unlock.
Five slots, 150 Jokers, and a set of rules about which ones Blueprint can copy and which ones a sticker will ruin. Lay out a board, total the shop cost, and check every flag before the Ante does it for you.
Open the Joker Synergy BoardWill this hand beat The Wall? Put in your cards and Jokers, set the Ante and Stake, and read off the final score against the Blind’s target. Shuffle the Joker order and watch the number move. The setup saves to the URL.
