Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's sequel to the deckbuilder that started the genre, in Steam Early Access since March 5, 2026. The card-by-card climb from the original is still the core loop, but a 4-player co-op mode now sits alongside solo play. Five classes are playable so far: returning names Ironclad, Silent, and Defect, plus two newcomers, the Regent and the Necrobinder. Expect balance changes and new content on a regular patch cadence while Early Access continues.

Character choice decides more than your starting deck here: each of the five classes locks in its own relic and a hand of Strikes and Defends before Act 1 even starts, and only the Defect starts with Orb slots. Act 1 then splits randomly between the Underdocks and the Overgrowth, so the same seed can open completely differently for two different runs, before the Hive and Glory bring everyone back onto the same two acts. Potions and relics swing individual fights, while permanent enchantments like Corrupted change what a card does for the rest of the climb. Custom Mode stacks Good and Bad modifiers on top of all that, rewarding one playstyle and punishing another in the same run. Co-op and solo runs pull from the same card and relic pool, but four players together see synergies a solo climb never triggers.
