29 of the 34 relationships in Stardew Valley live in Pelican Town proper; Sandy runs her shop out in the Desert, and the Dwarf, Krobus, Leo, and the Wizard each keep to their own corner of the map. Every entry lists birthday, home, family ties, and the full loved, liked, neutral, disliked, and hated gift breakdown the game tracks for that person. 12 of the 34 can be romanced; the other 22 are friendship-only, though friendship still unlocks recipes, dialogue, and heart events regardless of which kind it is.

How Gifting Works

2 gifts a week count toward friendship with each villager; a third just gets set down and forgotten, no bonus, no penalty. A loved gift earns the most, liked comes next, neutral does nothing much, and disliked or hated actively cost you points. Time a loved gift to someone’s birthday and the friendship gain multiplies by 8, the best possible payoff for a rare item like Rabbit’s Foot or Magic Rock Candy.

Reading the Gift Lists

Every villager’s gift list reflects personal taste only. 5 items (Prismatic Shard, Rabbit’s Foot, Golden Pumpkin, Magic Rock Candy, Pearl) are loved by everyone in the game and get left off each individual entry, so check that shortlist first if someone’s loved section looks thin. A handful of entries name a category instead of a single item, Harvey loves any Fruit rather than one specific type, and matching the category counts just as much as finding the specific item.
