Overview
Balatro tracks 31 Steam achievements, and none of them give you anything in-game. No starting cash, no unlocked deck, just the checkmark. Most fire mid-run, before the round even ends; a few track career totals instead, like 2,500 cards played across every save on your profile. Completionist++ is the long haul, a Gold Sticker on every Joker and the last box most players check. Seeded runs count toward none of them, and challenge runs only count for two: Rule Bender and Rule Breaker.
How Unlocks Work
What Counts
Each achievement watches one counter: an Ante number, a chip score, a Stake level, a career stat. Cross the threshold and it fires on the spot, no need to finish the run first. The exceptions are the run types the game refuses to score: seeded runs are out across the board, and challenge runs only count for Rule Bender and Rule Breaker, the two achievements about challenges themselves.
Unlocked at the Same Moment
Achievements grant nothing in Balatro. Reach Ante 4 and the Showman Joker joins your pool in the same breath as Ante Up!, one of 13 conditions tied to an in-game unlock. Each of those entries links straight to the Joker, Voucher or Deck that arrives with it.
