Water, season, weather and shadow size for every catch, plus the Fish Wing set it fills

Overview
Mistria has 143 things you can pull out of the water, and 109 of them belong in the museum’s Fish Wing across 22 sets. Most surface fish only care about two things: the season and whether you’re standing at a river, a pond or the ocean. Rain adds a handful more, and the 25 fish in the mines ignore the calendar entirely. Check the Fish Wing list below before a season ends. Miss a Spring River fish and it’s a 12-month wait.

Cast at the Right Shadow
Every rod catch shows its shadow before it bites: small, medium, large or giant. That’s your only hint at what’s under there, so if you want a Paddlefish, ignore the small shadows in a Spring river and wait for a giant one. Leaving the map and coming back refreshes what’s swimming.
Weather Reshapes the Pool
Twelve fish only show on wet days, and ten of them flood the water when they do. Rainy days are the time to clear out Grayling, Walleye, Halibut and the rest. Storms bring Lightning Fish in Summer, a Winter blizzard brings Snow Fish, and the windy days that blow petals and leaves around are when Cherry Fish and Leaf Fish turn up.
The Four Legendaries
Cherry Fish, Lightning Fish, Leaf Fish and Snow Fish need the Legendary perk from Caldarus’ statue, and you only get one of each per save. The game tells you in the morning when one is nearby. Donate them: the Legendary Fish Set is the only four-fish set in the wing, and you can’t finish the museum without it.
Diving, Bait and the Fish Trap
21 catches come up from bubbling dive spots. Nine of those (the clams, snails and Crayfish, plus Seaweed and Newt) can’t be caught any other way. Five fish only bite on Fish Bait, which you make by putting bugs in a Terrarium. The Fish Trap at the beach has five of its own, and its Amberjack sells for 200t.
