Twelve villagers can be dated. Everyone else tops out at friendship, no matter how many Loved gifts you give them.

Heart Points
Each heart level is a pile of points, and the piles grow fast. Getting from 9 to 10 hearts costs more than the first four levels put together.

Assumes +20 per loved gift, +7 for the day’s first chat and +60 per date. Birthday bonuses are left out. Dates only count once you’re dating, and the weekly pace is whatever you set.
Heart Events
Candidates have heart events at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 hearts. The dragons only have the 8 and 10. Most come by letter once you reach the level, with full conditions under each one. At 8 hearts you choose whether it turns romantic.

Dates
Dates happen on weekends once you are dating, engaged or married, and each pays a flat amount of heart points. Use a date's inspiration item to unlock it. Three of the nine never appear in the date menu. They exist so a festival or your wedding can leave you a photo.
+60 per date, on Saturday and Sunday, while dating, fiance, spouse.

Proposing and Marriage
1. Start dating at 8 hearts
The 8-heart scene asks for an answer. Pick the romantic one and you are dating. Skip it and they can settle into being your best friend.
2. Get the ring recipe at 10 hearts
Hit 10 hearts while dating and the engagement tutorial gives you the Engagement Ring Recipe Scroll. The ring is a Blacksmithing craft, so check your forge level early.
3. Propose
Talk to your partner at 10 hearts while holding the Engagement Ring. You can't already have a fiancé or spouse. Caldarus refuses until the Final Seal is closed, which puts his route behind the main story.
4. Pick the day
A yes makes them your fiancé, and anyone else you were dating becomes an ex or a best friend. The wedding falls 5 to 14 days after you propose. It skips festivals, Spring 14, Fall 7, Winter 7 and your birthday.
