Where Iron Ore, Dragon-Forged Fangs, Butter and honey come from, and what each one is for
Data from build 25583279, updated
Mine loot feeds the workbench, and the rest of the page feeds the kitchen and the ranch. Ore and gems sit in rocks and nodes, 30 of the 57 mine materials drop off monsters, and the Stone Refinery turns plain Stone into 21 more. The other 97 are Milk, Butter, Hay, honey, bait and the like. Raw materials sell cheap. The money is in what you build with them, so check the “Used in” count before you dump a stack in the shipping bin. Wood alone goes into 181 woodcrafting recipes.
Each mine area has its own ore. Copper in the Upper Mines, Iron in the Tide Caverns, Silver in Deep Earth, Gold in the Lava Caves and Mistril in the Ancient Ruins. Seams and nodes are the rich ones, and the clod monsters that wander each area drop the same ore. Take the Ore-riginal mining perk early: plain rocks start coughing up the local ore too.
The Refinery sits inside the mine entrance and turns Stone into nearly anything. Wood, Clay, Glass and even gems all come out of it. A Diamond costs 35 Stone. Hard Wood takes 10. No swap turns a profit, since Stone sells for 2t. Essence Stones are the exception: a Large one sells for 320t from 40 Stone, though it also burns 100 Essence.
Every ingot takes 10 ore and 20 minutes at the anvil outside the Blacksmith’s shop. Copper needs Blacksmithing level 1 and Mistril needs 8. Each metal has an Expert perk that knocks one ore off the price. Smelting barely beats selling the ore, and Iron loses money: 10 Iron Ore sells for 150t, the ingot for 125t. Smelt for upgrades, not cash.
Fangs, shells, cores, horns and powder all come off monsters, and furniture eats them by the dozen. Each part has its favourite monsters, listed on its page with the floors they spawn on. Generous in Defeat, a combat perk, sometimes doubles a kill’s drops. The four Dragon-Forged parts are endgame: they come from the Dragon Forge after The Dragonsworn Tablet and sell for 640t and up.
The Mill turns crops, Fiber, Milk and Eggs into 15 milled goods, and Butter and Cheese each take 2 Milk. Your animals supply the 23 animal products, and the 8 feeds and 10 treats keep them producing. The Apiary and Terrarium turn bugs into 0 honeys, 3 baits and 4 pheromones every 3 days, and rarer bugs make the better grade. Most of the 14 pet skins are monster drops. The 7 festival items are Queen Berry Pie, Cow-Shaped Donut and their kin, mostly 200t to 400t.
