Overview
The Horse sells for 2,300t at Hayden's Shop, but the shop won't stock it until Upgrade Hayden's Barn is done. That town project is the big bill, not the horse.
You also need somewhere to keep it, so plan the barn before you start saving.
Steps
1.Wait for Adeline's letter
Project for Hayden starts Upgrade Hayden's Barn. It shows up once you meet this condition: Completed Restocking Mistria's Food Reserves 2 at least 2 days ago.

2.Fill the Donation Box
Upgrade Hayden's Barn asks for 500 Stone, 400 Wood and 8 Iron Ingots, plus 4,000t paid to Adeline. You get 50 renown back.
3.Have a barn ready
A horse lives in a Small Barn, Medium Barn or Large Barn. The cheapest, the Small Barn, holds 4 animals and costs 2,000t.

4.Buy the Horse
Walk into Hayden's Shop and pay 2,300t.
